SINGLE-TOPIC WORKSHOPS
Single-topic workshops make sense when a specific learning need or skills gap needs to be addressed. SHiNE4 workshops vary in length, and range from 90-minute 'micro courses' to workshops that run for between 4 to 8 hours.
Workshop lengths can be modified to suit your particular circumstances, and some of the topics listed below lend themselves to being combined into a tailored development programme that suits your managers' and leaders' specific needs.

Feel free to browse the topics currently on offer - or reach out if you'd like to discuss a tailored approach for a topic not currently listed.

You The Leader
-
5 hour workshop
-
Build leadership self awareness
-
Shape your Leadership style & Impact
The behaviours of managers and leaders have a profound impact on the teams and individuals they lead. They affect how engaged, motivated and productive their teams are are, and shape their direct reports' ability to contribute to the success of the organisation.
At the same time, in today’s fast-paced work environments, most managers’ awareness of their leadership style and impact is fairly low.
The ‘You The Leader’ workshop addresses this lack of awareness. Delegates get to take a step back from their busy work environments, reacquaint themselves with their individual leadership styles, and get to ‘see’ the impact that style has on others. The insights this generates allow for a re-attunement of the manager’s way of leading, which paves the way for becoming a highly effective leader.

Leading Teams
-
5 hour workshop
-
Create a high engagement climate
-
Build high performing teams
What does it take to build an effective, high-performing team? Research suggests that the climate managers create with their actions (or non actions) determines how engaged and productive their teams are likely to be, and influences the standards to which they work.
An analysis of the same research also reveals four common denominators that shape the ‘ecosystem’ teams operate within, and that enable team members to perform at their personal best.
In this highly experiential workshop, delegates will directly engage with the these common denominators, and they will be able to understand how their individual leadership behaviours affect each of them in a way that either promotes or blocks a high performing team climate.

Leading Through Change
-
4 hour workshop
-
Help teams and ICs navigate change
-
Manage common reactions to change
Statistics show that organisational change initiatives fail more often than they succeed. Yet, in today’s rapidly shifting world, the ability to drive change successfully is not just important - it is often necessary for the very survival of the organisation through its ability to adapt.
While the formal processes around managing change are usually well understood, the skill of leading people through change is often lacking - which can place considerable stress on the shoulders of managers and leaders at all levels.
‘Leading Through Change’ is a highly practical workshop which aims to reduce that stress. Delegates will discover the stages teams typically move through while engaging with the change initiative, and discover key strategies for helping each team member navigate the change successfully. As a result, managers will be able to avoid the many pitfalls that are inherent in leading others in the face of profound change.

Coaching At Work
-
4 hour introductory workshop
-
Key skills & principles of coaching
-
Intuitive & practical coaching framework
Managing purely via ‘control and command’ is an approach that is seen as outdated, and it is rightfully being consigned to the history books in modern organisations. Indeed, the world has changed, and today’s employees want managers who are engaging, collaborative and involve them as much as possible.
The ‘Coaching At Work’ workshop helps the modern manager live up to those expectations. It offers an introduction to the principles, techniques and skills that underpin the coaching approach, and it provides them with an opportunity to learn how to help their employees grow, develop, engage and take their performance to a new level.
Delegates will be introduced to a simple, pragmatic coaching framework and learn the fundamental coaching skills that, when combined, enable them to take their first steps as a coaching manager.

Developing Performance
-
4 hour workshop
-
Inspire remarkable performance
-
Multiply motivation and engagement
Performance Management has a reputation problem. Traditional PM models are widely seen as ineffective, and research indicates that only 2 in 10 employees strongly agree that their performance is managed in a way that actually motivates them to strive for 'higher' and 'better'.
In this workshop, delegates are invited to consider shifting their views away from seeing performance as something that must be ‘managed’ and consider viewing it as something to be developed. Once this paradigm shift manifests itself in their actions, many of the inefficiencies of traditional PM simply fall away.
This course offers managers and leaders a practical model for developing performance as part of their day-to-day conversations with their direct reports. They will learn how to set clear expectations, foster a sense of accountability and elicit remarkable performance from their teams and ICs.

Giving Effective Feedback
-
2 hour 'Micro' workshop
-
Learn how to give effective feedback
-
Avoid common 'feedback mistakes'
Feedback, or the ability to give it effectively, is the 'Aspirin' in the manager’s tool kit: it’s an unassuming, sometimes undervalued skill to have, but if applied effectively, it can prevent major headaches for managers, for their employees and often for the entire organisation.
And not only that: research by the ‘Conference Board’ (a non-profit business research group, cited here) has found that when managers provide fair, accurate and job-relevant feedback on a regular basis, performance increases by as much as 39%!
This workshop offers delegates an insight into the psychology of effective feedback, and it provides them a pragmatic approach they can apply in day-to-day situations at work to ensure that the impact of their feedback is positive and constructive.

Effective
Delegation
-
2 hour 'Micro' workshop
-
4-Step Framework for effective delegation
-
Identify and overcome obstacles to delegation
Delegating work to others is regarded as part and parcel of a manager’s day-to-day work - yet, according to a recent Stanford University survey, over a third of managers struggle, and indicate that delegation is a skill they need to improve.
The research also highlighted some of the key obstacles to delegation, such as the manager’s concern that the work in question won’t be completed to the required standards, trouble with letting go of control, or the fear of loss of influence (‘delegating oneself out of a job’).
This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to explore a simple, pragmatic framework that enables them to delegate with confidence, clarity and in a way that leaves team members feel empowered to deliver against the tasks delegated to them.

Dealing with
Conflict
-
4 hour workshop
-
Recognise common drivers of conflict
-
Discover a coaching-based approach to resolving inter-team conflicts
Conflict, whether we like it or not, is a common occurrence in both our private and professional lives, and even the most harmonious of teams are likely to experience it at some point in their time together.
Because of the emotional nature of conflicts, managers often feel ill equipped to resolve them - and all too often suffer the consequences in the form of declining performance or a toxic team atmosphere.
This workshop is designed to support managers by providing them with a sound toolkit for dealing with conflict situations. It enables them to recognise the common drivers of conflict, read the dynamics that are at play, and offers a coaching-based strategy for guiding the conflicting parties towards resolving their differences amicably and constrictively.

Leading Hybrid
Teams
-
2 hour 'Micro' workshop
-
Apply 5 core manager behaviours for successfully leading hybrid teams
Whereas most skills that are considered to be staples in the modern manager's tool kit have evolved over decades, the concept of leading a hybrid team was - for want of a better word - 'speed born', and arrived as somewhat of a shock, a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Post-pandemic, it appears that most organisations will retain at least some aspects of remote working, and many are adapting their physical work spaces to align with this new reality.

The 'Leading Hybrid Teams' workshop offers managers an opportunity to catch up with the latest research and insights into this evolving field, and pro-actively work out a management strategy and approach that works best in their own unique circumstances.

Managing
Gen Z
-
2 hour 'Micro' workshop
-
What to expect from Generation Z
-
Approaches to managing Gen Z
In organisations we are used to talking about the challenges of managing Millennials. However, with this group now entering their 40s (and with 83% of today's managers belonging to this cohort), a new generation is about to snatch the 'most talked about' accolade.

Fact is, Gen Z (anyone under the age of 25) are fast entering the workplace, and bring with them their own unique set of characteristics that are bound to impact on both team and office dynamics.

This workshop is designed to help managers get a sense of what it takes to manage this tech-savvy, independent and competitive generation, and harness their creative potential with the right management approach.
